Ropeless Systems designs, manufactures, and sells commercial ropeless fishing equipment using subsea acoustic technology.
We aim to keep fishermen fishing while ensuring a safe, line-free environment to eliminate the entanglement risk to whales and other at-risk sea life.
Ropeless Systems was founded and exists because our neighbors, who are fishermen, may wake up one morning and be told "you can't fish". We create technology and products to allow them to fish in otherwise closed areas, preserving their livelihoods while simultaneously protecting whales.

Our ropeless fishing technology allows fishermen to steam to their location, see their traps’ actual locations on a chartplotter, and call them to the surface with the touch of a button. Once at the surface, deck operations remain almost unchanged.
And when it comes to gear location, everything is automated. Our system knows when traps hit the water and automatically record their location. Simply set your traps and steam away.
No need to mark GPS coordinates. No referencing or reporting to a universal database. No ship maneuvers required to perform acoustic surveys.
Our technology and approach is what sets us apart.
We developed a technique called Single Ping Positioning™ which locates submerged traps while approaching a fishing location - without special ship maneuvers. You can even distinguish between a single trap and a multi-trap trawl.
Our Respond Once Technology™ prevents continuous interrogations from passing ships, saving battery life on submerged systems and ensuring a safe recovery.
